J.J. Perry is a first unit director, action director, fight choreographer, stunt coordinator, martial artist, stuntman and actor.
He began his martial arts training in 1975 when he was 8 years old. He got his Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do at the age of 12 and competed from the age of 7 until he was 24. He has had over 24 years of martial arts training and has a 5th-degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do, a 2nd-degree in Hapkido, and has experience with all kinds of weapons. He is the co-founder of Taekwondo West martial arts schools in Inglewood, California, and Venice, California.
Perry has trained, worked with and choreographed fight scenes for the likes of Hugh Jackman, Gina Carano, Jason Statham, Lucy Liu, Michael Jai White, Chuck Norris, Shannon Lee, Ernie Reyes, Jr., Will Smith, Arnold Chon, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Loren Avedon, Milla Jovovich, Tom Hardy, Kate Beckinsale, Scott Adkins, Ron Yuan, Aaron Norris and Gerard Butler.
